Today I covered the main park road of Everglades National Park for the NAMC. Areas covered included Anhinga Trail, Gumbo Limbo Trail, Research Road, Hidden Lake Road to Mt. Shinus, Long Pine Key Campground and Picnic Area, Pinelands Trail, Pa-hay-okee, Mahogany Hammock, Paurotis Pond, Nine Mile Pond, West Lake, Snake Bight Trail (just the first hundred yards), Mrazak Pond and Flamingo, including Eco Pond. Mosquito levels were surprisingly low throughout. Highlights include Smooth-billed Ani, still at the alligator overlook at Anhinga Trail, a Chestnut-sided Warbler on Hidden Lake Road, the continuing avian spectacle at Mrazak Pond, three White-rumped Sandpipers at Eco Pond and three Shiny Cowbirds among the Brown-headed Cowbirds at Flamingo.
