Eco Pond was filled with lots of birds on Sunday, and it brought back many memories of days past. American Avocets, one in rusty breeding plumage, numerous Black-necked Stilts and Greater and Lesser Yellowlegs bobbing along. A large group of Dunlins were finally showing their black bellies. White Pelicans were feeding along with a few waders including a beautiful immature Little Blue Heron showing lots blue feathers. (Someone said it looks like they put white socks into a load of blue jeans). Others including a few Short-billed Dowitchers and a Semi-palmated Sandpiper. Very nice.
The Shiny Cowbirds were still being seen as posted in the past in the mowed field across from the old gas station. Very shiny. We did observed a Cape Sable Seaside Sparrow south of Mahogony Hammock. Yah!! Great day
