The link below shows the aggressive and voracious Eastern Pondhawk, photographed during our May 1 TAS Birdwalk at Kirby-Storter boardwalk. Note that this one is also holding its forelegs folded and out of the way between the head and thorax (like the Needham's Skimmer in previous post). this guy can be distinguished from similar Great Pondhawk by the spotted, rather than ringed, abdomen - making it a good but not a Great Pondhawk.
