Biscayne BioBlitz - the first 12 hours...

With 12 hours under our belt, the current tally is 554 species (all taxa) from the 2010 Biscayne BioBlitz. The next 12 hours should be really exciting as lots of data sheets pour in.

Bird highlights for me were many Bobolink scattered throughout the open areas of Elliott Key. With some help I also located a beautiful male Bay-breasted Warbler next to the Elliott Visitor Center. Palm Warblers, Blackpoll, American Redstart, and Black-throated Blue were also present in good numbers. A Gray Kingbird was my first for the year.

I know that Robin, Michelle, and Carlos had a Veery and Gray-cheeked Thrush at the mist nets. Let's hope for an exciting day tomorrow!
