I have heard and seen a Downy Woodpecker in the Live Oaks on the west side of the campus(70th Terr.) near the fenceline by the trailer on 4/29 and on a regular basis. Just further north of that area are at least 2 fluffy Burrowing Owl young. The canal along 70th Terr. is amazing Black-crowned Night Heron, Red-shouldered Hawk, Wood Stork, Mottled Duck, Coopers Hawk and lots of waders. Not bad for the city. Also check the wires for Black-hooded Parakeets along the school and up to the park soccer fields.
Driftwood MS is located at 2751 NW 70th Terr. north of SHeridan St. and about halfway between 441 and University Dr.
