The La Sagra's Flycatcher was seen early this morning in Bill Baggs Cape Florida SP, then heard at 8:55. It called 8 times, then 4 more times after a few minutes. Kansas birder Kevin had a good look at 9:50, but the bird was fairly deep in vegetation. The sightings were in the area ~50 yards north of the restrooms and ~20 yards east of the paved bike path. When I left, birders (including a VENT group) were still trying to get better looks. [Welcome back, Brennan!] After a 6-day absence, it's nice to see our long-staying rarity again. Perhaps others will post with further sighting information.

The bird has not been shy about coming into the open along the paved bike path, so patience is usually rewarded. The vegetation east of the bike path is thick, as well as being a research area currently in use. Birders are discouraged from trying to bushwhack off the path.
