Sandhill Cranes

There have been a pair of Sandhill Cranes that seem to have made a home at the Weston Regional Park. They are very friendly and not afaid of people. Is it possible that they are captive birds that have escaped. I have seen Sandhill Cranes around here before but it is very rare.
