It's the first road west of Dagny Johnson in North Key Largo heading towards US 1. Please use a tape sparingly. Mangrove Cuckoos are just beginning to arrive in the Upper Keys for mating and overplaying the tape could make a male move to a new territory. Also, the Cuckoos eventually become anesthecized to the taped call. If the bird is nearby it usually gives an immediate response. Please note that Yellow-billed Cuckoos are also arriving and nest in the same habitat. There are miles of habitat along the main road to look for this species. I saw the bird at 2:00 p.m. but early morning is the best time to look for this elusive zygodactyl. Life is good............
