I decided to go to Royal Palm early this morning and do some photography since new migrants will probably be far and few between today. I went to Research Rd. first to see if maybe there was still any White-tailed Kite around, but no.
I then went to Royal Palm and found the Ani sitting on a rail at the end of the paved walk near the alligator overlook. It was partly cloudy and the light wasn't great, but I got a few OK photos... Not nearly as good as the one Toe got near the building. There were many singing Common Yellow-throat, but no Purple Gallinule.
There was a Barred Owl in one of the Strangler Figs along the walk. I snapped a few shots there and headed to the parking lot and the tree with the moss to wait for STK's. At about 8:30am one made 3 circles around the parking lot and then it took a little moss off the tree closest to the flag pole. I got a couple of OK shots and a bunch of over-exposed shots. So I waited about an hour and 45 minutes before giving up. I'm sure if I stayed I would have gotten more opportunities, but had other things to do.
On my way home I checked for the Whimbrel at Cutler Wetland but didn't see it...
