The Smooth-billed Ani previously reported at Anhinga Trail in the Everglades is still present as of April 13th and 14th. On the 13th, I along with three other birders observed the bird for around twenty minutes just at the base of the alligator overlook. The bird is not shy at all and when seen will approach very closely. Many photos were taken.
This morning (April 14th) the ani was present again on the alligator overlook itself for around a half hour before flying a short distance out of view. One of the birders said he believed the ani was a juvenile. Seven birders beside myself viewed the bird and got photos. I am traveling until the 20th and cannot upload my photos to the Internet until I return home. I don't know how to embed photos here in the post, instructions would be greatly appreciated so I could put them on here.
