Hi all: This morning, I followed in Trey's footsteps, and checked out the Black Rail site at ENP; ( about a half mile south of the Mahogany Hammock turnoff ). Actually, I was there yesterday, as well, but I arrived too late.
At around 6:45 a.m., I heard a distant Black Rail call, but it never got any closer.
After the sun came up, I hung around to see if I could see any Cape Sable Seaside Sparrows. Eventually, one popped up on the West side of the rode, and I had good scope views.
Yesterday, I finally found your resident " Golden " Yellow Warblers at the traditional spot, just south of the toll both for the Card Sound Bridge. I guess the difference this time is that they were in full singing mode, and they were flying from the offshore islets to the mainland.
Also, here, were two brilliant male Black-thorated Blue Warblers, and a male Cape May.
Cheers, Thor
