The link below shows an Everglades Racer I photographed yesterday at Fairchild that was engaging in an interesting drinking behavior. Gliding through succulents in the early morning, the snake would invert its head and rub it in the dew on the plant stems. Then, turning its head upright, it would open its mouth slightly to catch the water dripping from its crown. An curious behavior I had read about, but never seen.
