Hi all: Ventured down to Key West today in search of above birds. Spent about an hour at the botannical gardens on Stock Island, which, by the way, don't open till 10:00 a.m., and close at 4:00 p.m. No Loggerhead Kingbird in there that I could find, although there was a Gray Kingbird in here. Also checked on my way back around 4:00 p.m., and no luck again.
I did find the Thick-billed Vireo at Indigenous Park. It seemed to be quite active the whole time I was there. A couple from Colorado also had a chance to see it, while I was there. There are also White-eyed, and Red-eyed Vireo in here for comparison.
Also in the park- Northern Waterthrush, Black and White, and Palm Warbler, Great Crested Flycatcher, and other common Florida birds.
The Thick-billed Vireo seemed to be favoring the area around the raised look off over the pond, and working backwards towards an empty water feature beside a bench.
Cheers, Thor
