Spent the day with family on the southwest coast of Florida. After spending some time at Ft Myers Beach (where the biggest highlight and almost only bird was a single Forster's Tern in breeding plumage -- the beach was super crowded), we drove down to Marco Island's Tigertail Beach where I did some actual birding. Between 2-4PM, I recorded 17 different species of shorebird (I walked all the way to the north end):
Black-bellied Plover
Semipalmated Plover
Wilson's Plover
Piping Plover
Snowy Plover
Black-necked Stilt (flock of 10)
Greater Yellowlegs (first time I see them in a marine habitat)
Willet
Marbled Godwit
LONG-BILLED CURLEW (all the way at the north end)
Ruddy Turnstone
Sanderling
Red Knot
Dunlin
Western Sandpiper
Least Sandpiper
Short-billed Dowitcher
Other birds of interest included Reddish Egret, Black Skimmer, Caspian and Royal Tern, and American Kestrel.
