Monarch Butterfly Numbers Plunge

Monarch Butterflies making their return flight back north to the US & Canada from their wintering grounds in the Sierra Chincua have lost 50-60% of their numbers due to the severe winter storms. Read about it in the link below. It's sad because when I lived in Colonial Mexico, not too far from the wintering grounds, I can remember seeing one of the largest migration spectacles of any organism on the planet with these butterflies. Illegal logging has also placed a tremendous burden on the future survival of these butterflies. Everyone should plan on going to these Mexican refugia sometime soon i.e. in the next several winters before the Monarchs are gone forever and yes, that is a possibility! It is an unbelievable global phenomenon that you will never forget as long as you live.
