Hello again folks,
Is it me or are we having some pretty good birding this year so far? I know some of you are asking:
What happened to Rock? All the hype and now what? Did he get cold feet? He got the blog site going but he hasn't been updating it. He's not whining enough. He's not taking this seriously, I've already seen more birds this year than he has. He's not TOE!
I say calm down, there's always a calm before a storm. I may even start whining. With Toe turned photographer and out of the way there is nothing and no one to stop me! Ha Ha Ha Ha (evil laugh)!
But seriously, I am pleased to hear a lot of you are tallying up the species; some of you may even be over two hundred by now.
My life goals for 2010:
Life bird #1000. I'm getting close and my trips to the Old World should take care of that.
ABA #600. I'm going out west, or southwest, SE Arizona, somewhere! This one will be a challenge but it could be done.
Florida #400. Getting close, this may be the year. I need rarities though; birds like Fork-tailed Flycatcher which I still don't have for the state.
There's also the year goals for 2010:
300 for Florida (focusing on Miami-Dade county).
500 for ABA.
700 for the World.
Why not? I invite you to join me in a great race. No pressure. Who knows, Toe might even join in. Send me your lists, I'll post them on my blog. I promise I'll update mine first.
Off tomorrow morning to AD Barnes for the Hermit Thrush!
Bird hard...'til you drop!
-RJ
