I had a good day at Sebastian Inlet State Park. I drove up this morning and parked on the north side of the inlet. Using my scope, I quickly spotted the female Harlequin Duck on the south side of the inlet about 100-200 yards west of the bridge. I then spent a little time on a seawatch from the north jetty. There were many Northern Gannet offshore, flying, sitting on the water and plunge-diving. I also had a distant view of a flying flock of 25 Black Scoters.
I crossed over to the south side of the inlet, where I relocated the Harlequin Duck and got point-blank views. I continued walking west along the inlet, where I found a Purple Sandpiper on the rocks on the south side of the inlet near the green "1A" channel marker. I also had point-blank looks at this bird.
In addition to the birds, there were a number of dolphin putting on a good show in and around the inlet.
