From the median island, about 200 feet from nest, Canon 30D with 300mm IS and 1.4x extender (420mm system), ISO 500, wide open at f/5.6, .01 sec. Shooting to the west, so harsh sun can be a problem. Best light is at ends of day and also when overcast. Please obey parking restrictions-- overflow at Post office one block west. No parking the entire south side of highway. The media have once again publicized the nest, and the safety of onlookers is of much greater concern than disturbance to the eagles-- they have handled it just fine for 3+ years now. Police will have their hands full. We are working to have a nest camera installed before next nesting season.
