Late afternoon seems to be a good time to view the ani, as it seems to regularly roost near the boardwalk overlook at the end of the cement path (3 out of 3 tries, always roosts in the same area of Anhinga Trail).
Larry Manfredi and his son, Roxanne Featherly, Jeanette, myself, and many other birders got excellent looks in the late afternoon of the bird as it returned to its roost. Just a few minutes, later we enjoyed the arrival of four Snail Kites which soared over the boardwalk area before going to their respective roosting locations.
