I'm not a birder, but believe I sighted a small flock of finches, in particular the Hooded Siskin. The birds were thin and small (about 9-10 cm. long), yellow-breasted and probably black-headed. My ID of them is from recollection, compared later with images of various finches on Wikipedia. They were nearly invisible in yellow-blossomed small trees in the front lot of Costco (around 148th street and Biscayne Blvd., in North Miami), and among crows. Sighting date was Feb. 19, 2010.
According to Wiki, these birds are not native. I have no idea of whether or not they have been sighted in South Florida before.
