It was a beautiful morning at Anhinga Trail. I refound the Smooth-billed Ani when it started calling around 9:30AM. It was at the eastern overlook at the end of the straight portion of Anhinga Trail. It walked around that overlook for more than an hour, never straying more than 10 feet. It would occasionally spread its tail feathers and wings and sun right along the waters edge. That behavior nearly got it killed. An alligator made a half-hearted attempt and still nearly grabbed the bird.

Several flocks of American Robin streamed overhead throughout the morning. I counted at least 135. Thanks to a tip from Rock Jetty I also spotted a Northern Waterthrush just a little farther west from the Ani; underneath the single Anhinga nest.
