Got there at 8:45, wandered around near the gate for 1/2 hour and finally heard the bird calling, about 150 yards south on the interior trail. After calling loudly for 10 minutes, it popped up in some tall trees on the east side of the trail, then dove down and back. It started calling again about 15 minutes later, this time on the other side of the trail; perched on a dead snag on top of tree directly in front of me, and again promptly disappeared, giving one last call which sounded right next to me. Last time I heard it, it was heading toward the water......
Driving out of Key Biscayne, saw an extremely large Sandhill Crane on the baseball field next to North Beach.
