At dusk at Anhinga Trail, I found a Smooth-billed Ani. The bird was first seen near the covered area of the boardwalk near the trees where the Anhingas nest. It then flew over to a cocoplum bush near the boardwalk platform that dead ends right over where the alligators like to bask. Three Dutch photographers were there, which took many photos to document the sighting. Other notable sightings in the park include:
Glossy Ibis: 80+ at Anhinga Trail
Roseate Spoonbill: 2 at Snake Bight, 1 Flamingo
White-tailed Kite: 1 at Long Pine Key
Bald Eagle: 1 at Flamingo, 1 at Paurotis Pond
Purple Gallinule: 1 at Anhinga Trail
Short-billed Dowitcher: 8 at Flamingo
Willet: 400+ at Flamingo
Marbled Godwit: ~20 at Flamingo
Caspian Tern: 1 at Flamingo
Common Ground-Dove: 3 at Snake Bight, 4 at Flamingo
White-crowned Pigeon: 10+ flushed at Snake Bight, several seen very well
Northern Flicker: 2 at Long Pine Key
Pileated Woodpecker: 2 at Snake Bight
Yellow-bellied Sapsucker: 1 at Snake Bight
Eastern Bluebird: 2 at Long Pine Key
Cedar Waxwing: 3 at Long Pine Key
Painted Bunting: 1 female at Snake Bight
...plus Northern Parula, American Redstart, Northern Waterthrush, Common Yellowthroat, Black-and-white, Palm, Prairie all at Snake Bight, Yellow-throated Warbler at Flamingo, and both Yellow-rumped and Pine Warblers at Long Pine Key.
