Mary Lou and I searched the area around the white gate at Bill Baggs from 10 AM until we finally found the La Sagra's Flycatcher at 12:45 PM. It was perched on the wire just next to (west of) the "Ranger House) that is east of the gate. The bird was above the cut that runs to the south. We only got a brief look and badly back-lit photos, but it was smaller than a Great Crested Flycatcher and I saw a clear white breast and no rufous at all in the bad light. We are pretty sure we heard it calling around 11:00 AM in the wooded area to the north of where it was sighted. It kept repeating its "weep" call about every 2-3 seconds for over a minute-- can't say for sure that it wasn't a Great Crested's call, but it was very persistently repeating, which is unusual in my experience. Also had 2 Northern Gannets at the lighthouse, along with the usual warbler assortment.
