One reason why taped bird calls are not allowed in Everglades National Park is that years ago a birder used a taped call of a Barred Owl on the Mahogany Hammock boardwalk. The taped call worked well...the resident owls attacked him and he ended up with deep talon wounds on his face. He later tried to sue the National Park Service because there were no warning signs stating that the use of taped calls was forbidden. Maybe he should have been nominated for the Darwin Award; nature will pick off the stupid ones.
