Things remained quiet throughout the day.
Even though a large flock of birders assembled from many different areas, including Maine and Canada,we were unable to find the bird until I called Bonnie and begged for more info on her sighting yesterday afternoon.Following her directions, we reconvened further down the dirt path towards where Robin and I had heard the bird on Tuesday.Finding nothing there other than a Phoebe we eventually worked our way back towards the intersection/gate area.
At 300pm , we spotted a Great Crested Flycatcher that flew into a stand of large Buttonwoods near where Bonnie had seen the bird yesterday.
Shortly after the GCfly flew across the path , we heard the La Sagras vocalizing loudly and frequently.
It was soon located nearby and delighted us with close looks as it perched in a dead tree next to the path. After maybe 5-10 minutes (?) it flew back up to the gate area and vocalized again. We did not refind it,but we were all happy with the looks we had.
There was a raptor seen in the area of the dirt intersection several times during the day-perhaps that is why the LaSagras was so quiet?
