This afternoon around 4:00 pm while looking for the La Sagra's Flycatcher which we only got fleeing views of, arghh; we relocated the Western Tanager that Robin had found on 01/14. The Tanager was seen just passed the intersection on the pond trail along the east side. The Tanager flew up to some dead branches at the edge of the pond and gave us incredible looks. We watched the bird for a couple minutes before it flew to the north and drop down into the Buttonwoods on the north side of the intersection in between the bathrooms and the gate. We did not try to find the bird after that as we were there on Flycatcher watch duty.
The La Sagra's was heard eight times just inside the gate, we had a light bellied Myiarchus zip us as it flew just over Angel's head. The calls started to come from the area where the bird flew to but for the life of us the bird would not come out of its hiding spot. Until the next time LASF!
Nature is Awesome,
Angel & Mariel
