At least 30 Hooded Mergansers swimming in the southeastern corner open water, up in numbers from previous reports. They put on quite a show, diving, preening, flying around and feeding. Nearby the White Pelican is still around, too. He needs to check out the huge congregation of carp/catfish under the entry bridge in the warmer shallows - they are too big for most other birds. I saw more birds there today than in the last few months, even though it is still really nippy and windy!
