Rebecca Smith, Curator of Research Materials at the Historical Museum of Southern Florida and an avid bird-watcher, teaches us about birding in South Florida, from pre-historic times to the present. Learn about the origins of the gear the well-equipped sub-tropical birder carried into the field, and why birders have flocked to South Florida for the past 60 years. The talk may wander to our closest neighbors, the Bahamas and Cuba.
Membership meetings are open to the public and held at the Doc Thomas House, 5530 Sunset Drive, near Red Road. The doors open at 7:30pm and the show begins at 8pm. Call (305) 667-7337 for more information.
