Nancy Freedman and I birded W. Kendall, Tamiami Trail and the Dade and Monroe portions of Loop Rd today for the North American Migration Count. Highlights included a young Chipping Sparrow (with streaked breast), an adult Clay-colored Sparrow, one Brown-headed Nuthatch, nine warbler species including an FOS Cape May and a thousand or so Barn Swallows.
We had excellent and prolonged looks at the sparrows.
I've never see a Nuthatch on Loop Rd. before.
