Viera Wetlands
Being I am somewhat handicapped and can no longer walk any distance I look for birding sites where you can bird from a car. After reading about Viera Wetlands here, my wife and I decided to visit it. It was spectacular, hundreds of Coots, Moorhens, Pied-billed Grebes, Blue-wing Teals as well as many other wading birds. I did not see the Masked Duck although other birders there said they had seen it..
I have another problem , I have a arm and head tremor which makes looking through binoculars difficult.
We also visited Merritt Island Wildlife Refuge, another good place for drive-by birding. There were many birds in the wetlands. A large flock of 50 Roseate Spoonbills flew overhead, that was a treat. All together we identified 34 species, it was a good day.
I want to thank all of you for posting about birds it brings back wonderful memories of my birding.
