Made a trip down to Key West today hoping to see the Western Spindalis (reported a couple of days ago) with visiting California birding friends Jennifer Rycenga and Peggy Macres. Did not see the Spindalis, but a trip to the Key West Botanical Garden on Stock Island provided warblers (many Palm, plus Prairie, Parula, Yellow-throated, and Redstart), as well as a Clay-colored Sparrow, well observed near the Western Loop trail. Jennifer briefly observed a warbler looking rather Oporornis-like, but the view was too brief to be definitive.
