OK, who do you have to sleep with to see this infernal species?
I first hit the N-S stretch of Research Road just after 6:30 and stopped about 2/3 of the way down. The Short-eared Owl made a brief appearance to the NW in the vicinity of the mound before dropping down into the brush and disappearing. I got an unexpected bonus with a Virginia Rail about 20 feet from the road as I walked in search of sparrows. It flew a short distance before it also dropped into the brush to disappear for all eternity (probably due to my presence, I seem to get that a lot lately from more than just birds). I also heard a couple of Sedge Wrens in the area. No sign of the White-tailed Kites.
I then spent a while at the La Sagra's spot with Larry Manfredi, Tricia, and a few other birders with no sign of the bird. We thought it called once towards the east, but that was it.
I drove back down Research Road, then the other way, then the main road, and checked the areas outside of the park and no sign of any Robins. There's seems to be an anti-Robin forcefield in place around Dade County. Maybe I need Luke Skywalker and Han Solo to help me take down the shield generator.
