Elsa Alvear and I both participated in the Kendall CBC today, focusing most of our effort into A.D. Barnes Park before moving on to other areas of the circle. We recorded 13 species of warbler in A.D. Barnes alone, including Magnolia, Black-throated Blue, and Black-throated Green Warblers. We also recorded a light morph Short-tailed Hawk.
We continued to the University of Miami, where we found our first Ruby-crowned Kinglet of the day. At Pinewood Cemetery, we had a Yellow-throated Vireo. Onward to the neighborhood north of Baptist, we had four White-crowned Pigeons but no Red-whiskered Bulbuls could be located. Thank you Elsa for providing such great company and helping me out with this big chunk of the circle!
From there, we parted. I pushed on to Kendale Lakes, where I racked up White-eyed Vireo and Painted Bunting near the Target on North Kendall Drive. I failed to relocate the Nashville Warbler and Summer Tanager at Kendale Lakes Park, but did have over half of the day's hummingbirds there.
The Barn Owl that resides in my neighborhood was vocal this morning, so made it into the tally for the day of a total of 73 species plus one count week species:
