I did some pre CBC scouting this morning early and found a few new birds in the Cutler Wetland area. I heard a Sora early and there were about 12-15 Brown-headed and one Shiny Cowbird on the wires at the house on the north side of Cutler Wetland with the feeder. It was a male, as soon as I made ID a Coopers Hawk broke up the party and I didn't spend a lot of time looking for it again. Nothing new about Osprey at Cutler Wetland but 4 Osprey were kiting/fishing all at the same time. I haven't see that down here before. No new ducks at Cutler Wetland, but I did see the 4 American Widgeon (LOL) I mean Wigeon...
Over at the lake inside the neighborhood to the east of Cutler Wetland there were 3 Ring-necked Ducks, 75 coot, 250 Laughing Gulls, 40 Ring-billed Gulls, 12 Herring Gulls and one Bonaparte s Gull.
The Ring-necked Ducks are new. I'm hoping some other duck came down with the last cool weather.
