Let me start out by saying that we are new birders...so we still get excited about each and every bird that we see. We went to the fields right before the Ernest Coe Visitor Center and we saw lots of buzzards but also saw a Bald Eagle in flight. We decided to start at Eco Pond, and our way there ,after the Flamingo Visitor Center,we saw off to the right on a branch a Scissor-tailed Flycatcher . When we got out of the car we saw a Female Painted Bunting. We walked all the way around the pond and saw Roseate Spoonbills and a life lister for me an American Avocet. There were American Kestrels,Osprey, Red Shouldered Hawks in abundance throughout our drive. We still dont have the Diurnal Raptors down pat so most of the time ...it was a Red Shouldered Hawk..lol We saw all of the regular wading birds that you see also. We went to Anhinga Trail as our last stop and we saw ,another Life Lister for me, an American Bittern. The Vultures did not bother our convertible...and all in all a great day for birding.
