I should pay closer attention to the 'canary-winged types' I often see around my neighborhood (south of sw 8th and 22nd ave). For a time this summer they would congregate daily in the morning in a bo-tree (ficus religiosa)and half dead royal palm right on 8th and 23rd (in an area with not a lot of vegetation). They haven't been there for a few weeks, though. I noticed that they had the more 'up and down' calls I hear in this area. I remember years ago in Coconut Grove the really large flocks that were near Bayshore made screeching calls that seemed on the same pitch. These were like the ones I heard in Pinecrest on Sunday. One thing makes me wonder. The ones that lived in the huge flocks 15 or more years ago (in a heavily vegetated Grove neighborhood), would they have been the 'original' pre yellow-chevroned white-winged? And I thought those mitred, green, white-eyed and other 'conures' were tricky!
