I spent about 2 hours at Barnes this morning so that Toe wouldn't get mad at me....it was REAL quiet for most of the time, but I stumbled into a feeding flock at the far northwest corner of the park, along the canal which had about 20 Pine Warblers, Yellow-throated warbler, Palm Warbler, Northern Parula, and the bird-of-the-day, an unexpected Blackpoll Warbler. Also in the area was a Kingfisher and my FOTS Phoebe.
BT Blues were in the trees near the cabins, and on my way out just outside the rooster area, near the park entrance, was a small flock with Redstart, Prairie, Palm, B&W Warblers and Northern Parula.
A Cooper's hawk was around the nature Center and made a run at a White-crowned Pigeon, but our wily natives are not like their slow, dim-witted collared cousins, and it got away clean.
