That's not a White-crowned Sparrow. It is a female Pin-tailed Wydah, judging by the beak color and size plus the head striping. I've seen them several times in pet stores. The males are very beautiful with very long, black central tail feathers.
The bird is originally from Africa. It uses weaver finches as a host for breeding, I believe.
