This morning while taking a stroll through our usual birding areas on campus we flushed up a Grasshopper Sparrow we also heard second one. The sparrow was behind the DM building on the west side of the pond. The bird flew up to a perch in a nearby Cypress Tree when flushed and then buzzed us on its way back down to the grass. The bird was feeding for a while in the grass as we studied it. We also had the usual BG Gnatcatchers and some Palms, heard one or two Yellow-rumps and had two RB Hummingbirds near the VH building. Not bad for a 15 minute stroll.
Hopefully this sighting of the Grasshopper will only mean that tomorrow we will see plenty more sparrows in the fields.
