At the field immediately northeast of the Motorsports complex the following bird species were observed during the hours of 4:00-6:00pm. Some water standing along road bi-secting fields.
Greater Yellowlegs - 3
Lesser Yellowlegs - 6
Whimbrel - 1
Pectoral Sandpiper - 75+
Least Sandpiper - 15+
Stilt Sandpiper - 4 (2 adult,2 juveniles)
Short-billed Dowitcher - 3
Common Snipe - 1
Killdeer - many
Black Tern - 1
Blue-winged Teal - 2
Eastern Kingbird - 20+
Bank Swallow - many mixed with Tree Swallows
Cave Swallow - 30+
Bobolinks - many in flight and on ground
Northern Harrier - thanks to its hunting, many shorebirds were flushed
Red-shouldered Hawk
Great Blue Heron
Tri-colored Heron
Cattle Egret - many
Enjoy nature at its best.
