Beginning Birdwalk, ENP, Halloween

A total of 23 enthusiastic birders joined me for the Beginning Birdwalk in Everglades National Park on October 31. Many of these were Girl Scouts from Homestead and Kendall (including my granddaughter) working toward their Bird Study merit badge. A group that large sort of limits where you can go, but we hit most of the hot spots between the Park entrance and Flamingo. Highlights included a dark-morph Short-tailed hawk soaring with the vultures at Flamingo and a Roseate Spoonbill at Eco Pond.

A well-posed American Crocodile named Elvira (by the local construction workers) across from the marina store was a most fitting sight for Halloween. See the link below for her photo.
