Was having breakfast in Tavernier this morning when I read a disturbing article in the local fish wrapper about the Wild Bird Center in Tavernier (Laura Quinn's place).
Apparently they have fallen on really tough times and may have to close if donations don't pick up soon.
So I drove over and dropped off a check to help pay for some breakfast for the birds.Took a quick walk thru the herd of Great White Herons,Snowy egrets etc that hang around and freeload, and found a POMARINE JAEGER in a cage by the water.I know you can't count it, but I had never seen one and this bird , like all the other birds there, provided great up close looks.
It was nice to also compare the feather patterns on the variety of raptors that are there.
I also had 5 species of warbler without really looking as I headed back to my car.
If you have ever been there or not ,please think about sending a donation!!!! http://www.fkwbc.org/
