This afternoon I received a phone call from Jeanette around 4PM. She went to the Dump Marsh to look for the Tropical Kingbird Toe found on 10/25. As she drove south on 97 Ave., she spotted a large bird perched at the top of the last utility pole on the left side of the road just before you turn east on 248th Street. The bird was a Caracara. Jeanette had observed it preening for awhile before I arrived. Before I reached the spot, the bird had flown from its perch over some palm trees and down towards the ground. I was was able to relocate it shortly after. We did not find the Tropical Kingbird, but found a couple of Brown-headed Cowbirds, Loggerhead Shrikes and an American Kestral on the wires.
