On the Pine Island Ridge this AM - outside of Tree Tops Park - 4 Pileated Woodpeckers being harrassed by 2 Sharp-Shinned Hawks in the Slash Pine and Live Oak. Pretty wild and colorful action, lots of dipping and diving, though the Pileateds mostly kept eating. Spectated by a Slash Pine loaded with just arrived Turkey Vultures, with a large verbal section of Blue Jays, Mockingbirds, Grackles, Red-Bellied Woodpeckers and several types of Warblers. A huge Red-Tailed Hawk was also attracted and cruised by to perch. Yesterday three of them soared in circles at the same spot and one curiously kept it's talons dangling down the whole time. Catbirds are here, had one Baltimore Oriole plus the usual lineup of warblers, Yellow-Rumped increasing, and some female Painted Buntings.
