We were at Barnes from 4:30-5:45 p.m. Wish we would have seen the post before we left or we would have spent more time looking. We were in the area looking for the Bay-breasted which was a miss =( We spent about thirty minutes in the area of the cabins. We did have several Buntings vocalizing in the shrubs under the Fig between the two buildings. We did see a pale female Painted Bunting but no Grassquit, wish we would have seen one though as it would be a life bird for the both of us. The park was rather quite, winds were blowing hard and we ended up seeing more resident birds than migrants.
Of note was the number of Merlin around yesterday and today. Yesterday we took a stroll around the neighborhood and saw our first of season Eastern Phoebe. Winter birds are back, we expect more birds to make their way south as the temperatures are getting pretty chilly in N. Florida. What songbirds have been hanging up there will start to make their way south real soon. Pass by Badbirdz2 to see what happens tonight.

Nature is Awesome
