On Wednesday, after getting pummeled by afternoon storms, I was treated to a very tame Clay-colored Sparrow on the grassy field on Adams Key (south of Elliot). Bobolinks, Painted Buntings and the more common warbler species were also there. Only the strongest raptors, Merlins and Peregrines, were heading south. On the run back to Homestead Bayfront I stopped and looked at two Horned Grebes which seem a bit early.

Don't forget to train those scopes or bins on the full moon; in my opinion there's absolutely nothing bird-related that can best seeing them silhouetted against the moon, flying hard.
