A dozen or so birders joined me on the TAS birdwalk at Matheson Hammock this morning. Normal birding conditions (neither fallout nor suckout) yielded the following migrant species:
Ruby-throated Hummingbird
Broad-winged Hawk
Short-tailed Hawk
Yellow-throated Vireo
Red-eyed Vireo
Blue-gray Gnatcatcher
Veery
Ovenbird
Worm-eating Warbler
Black-and-white Warbler
American Redstart
Northern Parula
Black-throated Blue Warbler (seen after the walk by two of us)
Yellow-throated Warbler
Prairie Warbler
I was pleased to get a year bird (Veery). Other highlights included Cooper's Hawks being harassed by a squirrel and jays, 15-20 Hill Mynas, Chimney Swifts, lots of Cardinals, and a Tricolored Heron strutting around the pond. The only parrots were heard-only.
