I had an appointment in Florida City this afternoon and saw the post just minutes before I had to leave so I listened to the call of the Sulphur-bellied Flycatcher online so I would know what it sounded like.

After my appointment I headed to the Annex and found Tricia and Eagle Eyes. The had no luck finding the birds, but I decided to give it a try for a little while.

I'm positive I heard both Sulphur-bellied Flycatchers at around 6:00pm in the exact location reported by Maria. I had been looking for the birds for a half hour or so when all the sudden I heard a very loud chattering with a squeaky sound like a rubber toy very close by me. Then I heard another bird calling in the same manner a bit further down to the south. The calls were continuous for about 30-45 seconds back and forth. I tried but could not see the bird closest to me. It was about mid-story in a fruit loaded tree about 75' to the north of the 6100 mark on the road. I was surprised with how loud the birds were calling.

I called Larry and he showed up shortly to help me look for the bird. He had his IPod with him and played the call so I could be sure of what I heard. No doubt about it, I heard the Sulphur-bellied.

I hope to get a chance to look again tomorrow afternoon so I can see this would be Lifer. Good luck to all who try in the morning.
