Went to the MD E.C. in Kendall this morning. They open every 2nd Saturday of the month. Lots of native plants (trema, etc) so I knew birding had to be good. Turned out be quite nice with 31 species seen in a relatively small area. Jake Tucker, who manages the grounds (also a good birder with good eyes), says he is willing to open earlier for birders (they open from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM) if contacted before. Had the following:

White Ibis
Black Vulture
Turkey Vulture
Osprey
Killdeer
Collared Dove
Mourning Dove
Monk Parakeet
Chimney Swift
Ruby-Throated Hummingbird
Red-Bellied Woodpecker
Red-Eyed Vireo
Blue Jay
Cliff Swallow
Barn Swallow
Blue-Gray Gnatcatcher
Gray Catbird (FOS)
N. Mockingbird
Brown Thrasher (common and fairly tame, good looks at 3 at once)
Starling
N. Parula
Prairie Warbler
A. Redstart (female)
Prothonotary Warbler (beautiful!)
Worm-Eating Warbler (surprisingly the commonest warbler)
C. Yellowthroat (female)
N. Waterthrush
Ovenbird
Cardinal
Spot-Breasted Oriole
Boat-Tailed Grackle
